Not only is this 'tax on disability' having a significant impact on people's lives the amount being charged by Local Authorities varies dramtically, with one recouping as much as 46% of its total spend on Adult Social Care and another as little as 4%! Hammersmith and Fulham Council has actually ABOLISHED charges for people with disabilities altogether...if they can do this why can't other Local Authorities?
The Independent Living Strategy Group is determined to increase awareness of the issue of charging for care and support and, with this in mind, they want to hear about your experiences via a quick survey. Please just take a moment to complete it and have your say!
